The exhibition title, 《I`m Pine, I`m Fine》, is derived from the title of the work, 《I`m Fine》, depicting pines. “I’m Fine” is the artist’s answer to the question from people wondering whether the pine tree that had been growing near his studio is still there, but it’s also a way for the artist to comfort himself. Song Tae-gwan often finds inspiration from the places he dwells and his surroundings and presents narratives that transcends time and space. He is known for creating works through which he presents objects in ways that highlight attributes that they are typically not associated with. For instance, he creates things that are expected to disappear using robust materials and tries to add a new kind of energy to them. His works embody the cycle of time and the transition of space. By showing that everything is fine through the pine among other things, he expresses unquenchable vitality and vivacity.
